Background Information: Randall David Shughart Elementary School is located in the Linden Oaks Community in Cameron, North Carolina.
Students who are enrolled at Shughart Elementary School are dependents of military personnel at Fort Bragg, and the school is funded by the Department of Defense. Shughart Elementary is one of 9 schools in the Ft. Bragg, Mid-Atlantic District, DoDEA Americas. NC: Ft. Bragg Mid-Atlantic District follows the directives, curricula, and guidelines from the umbrella organization of DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Activity).
Shughart Elementary is a neighborhood school and most students walk.
SGT Randall David Shughart
Our school is named in honor of Sergeant First Class Randall D. Shughart, United States Army Medal of Honor recipient.
Sergeant First Class Shughart distinguished himself by actions above and beyond the call of duty on 3 October 1993, while serving as a Sniper Team Member, Operations Command with Task Force Ranger in Mogadishu, Somalia. His actions on 3 October 1993 were extraordinary heroic. Sergeant First Class Shughart's devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest standards of military service and reflect great credit on him, his unit, and the United States Army.Â
