Shughart Elementary Hosts North Carolina Symphony Brass Trio

Shughart Elementary was honored to host the premiere performance of the North Carolina Symphony Brass Trio during Month of the Military Child. This talented trio, composed of three esteemed members of the North Carolina Symphony, brought the magic of symphony music to our students. The trio featured a trombone player, a French horn player, and a trumpet player.
The goal of their interactive performance was to educate students about symphony music and brass instruments. Throughout the event, the musicians engaged with the students by asking intriguing questions such as, "How do these instruments produce sound?" and "How are rhythms created?" This interactive approach captivated the students' attention and curiosity.
The performance showcased a diverse array of music, ranging from early 20th-century march music to blues, jazz, and even Beethoven. The students were thoroughly entertained, clapping and snapping their fingers to the beat. The trumpet player encouraged the students to listen carefully to the music, emphasizing that one can learn the history of the world through music.
Overall, the North Carolina Symphony Brass Trio's visit was a memorable and educational experience for Shughart Elementary students, leaving them with a deeper appreciation for symphony music and the rich history it conveys.
